Import of assets from Excel sheet

In NorthGRC, you have the ability to manage all your assets. Instead of creating them manually, you can import the assets from an Excel sheet.

When uploading an Excel file, please be aware that NorthGRC can only process Excel files with a single sheet. Additionally, the system will generate an error message if the file contains macros.

However, when uploading an Excel file, you should be mindful of which fields can be automatically populated in NorthGRC based on the information in the sheet. In NorthGRC, the following fields can be populated:

1. Asset name

2. Description

3. Asset category

The Excel sheet you upload must therefore have the following columns filled in with the desired information:

Import of assets is performed under Risk → Landscape → Create → Import from file:

Now, you need to select the file you want to import assets from. Do this by clicking on 'Browse,' selecting the Excel file to import the assets from, and then clicking 'Next':

As you can see in the image below, there are three fields that can be filled out, each corresponding to the fields mentioned earlier in the guide:

There is a dropdown menu for each asset field. Here, you can select which information from the Excel sheet should go where. This is also where the names of the columns in the Excel sheet can be seen:

After you have allocated the desired fields, click 'Next' in the bottom right corner.

Now, you need to select who is the owner, responsible and informed, as well as which workbench the assets should be associated with. Click 'Next' when you are finished.

You will now see how many assets will be imported from the Excel sheet:

When you click 'Next,' the assets will be created, and you will be able to follow the progress of how many of the assets have been imported:

After this, you will be able to see your imported assets under the Landscape:
If you open the asset, you will see that the information from the Excel sheet has been entered into the selected fields of the asset:
The fields Organization and Field Groups must be filled in manually on the assets after the import.
